Barry Cosgrove – Chairman, President & CEO, Blackmore Partners
Barry Cosgrove is a businessman, attorney and charitable director who, for the past twenty years, has successfully founded and led public and private enterprises. A graduate of the Class of 1975 from Cardinal Spellman High School, Barry went on to Marquette University where he earned a Bachelors Degree in 1979 and followed this with a Masters Degree from MIT in 1981. Upon completion of his studies at MIT, Barry joined the Kendall Company and, during the ensuing four years, while attending the evening division of Suffolk University School of Law, he assumed increasing management and executive responsibilities.
During his professional career, Barry has demonstrated his business acumen in various venues including Total Pharmaceutical Care, DaVita and Blackmore Partners where he currently serves as CEO and chairman of the Board. Barry also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Alzheimer's Association of Orange County, President and Chairman of the Marion L. Cosgrove Foundation, and President and Chair of the BPHA, a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to the prevention of water pollution.
Barry is also a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program and the Harvard Law School Advanced Negotiation Program. He currently serves as President of Spellman’s Board of Trustees and, with his expertise in various fields, brings many gifts to this school community.
Dr. John Aherne - Educational Consultant
Dr. John Joseph Aherne obtained his Doctor of Education, Ed.D., in 1992 from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA., after having obtained his Master of Education in 1975 from Bridgewater State College, Bridgewater. Dr. Ahern served as Superintendent of Schools of the Abington Public School District, Abington, Ma., from July 1992 - August 2007 and is a certified Massachusetts: Superintendent and Secondary Principal. Today Dr, Aherne is an Adjunct faculty member in the School of Graduate and Professional Studies teaching courses in Human Resource and Organizational Potential, Policy Analysis, Leadership and The Change Process at Endicott College, Beverly, MA. , and is also an instructor in Leadership Licensure Programs for Superintendents/Assistant Superintendents and Principals/Assistant Principals and Strategic Planning Consultant, Workshop Facilitator and Executive Coach for Teachers21, Wellesley, MA.
Among Jack’s many professional achievements , he has served as Site Visitor for the U.S. Department of Education's Blue-Ribbon Schools Recognition Program; as Board of Directors of Project Contemporary Competitiveness, Inc. a as well a Board Director and Past President of the Regional Educational Assessment and Diagnostic Services (R.E.A.D.S.).
Jack’s wealth of knowledge and experience are an enormous additional to the Board of Trustees.
John "Jack" Bailey - Owner, Eddie Bailey's Garage
A lifelong resident of nearby Abington, Jack was graduated from Spellman in 1964 and since that time has been a loyal and supportive alum who could be counted on to lend a helping hand whatever the need. Known locally as the “mayor” of the small town of Abington, Jack has been very active in the community. The proprietor of Eddie Bailey’s Garage in Abington, Jack is well known for his successful work as Chairman of the very famous Abington Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. In that capacity, he not only presides over monthly organizational meetings, but in addition, directs publicity, secures grants, organizes fundraising events and contracts the various marching groups – all to ensure an extremely popular and highly successful annual event.
Jack is married to Kathy, and their three children—Amy, Kenneth and Timothy—are all Spellman graduates. He is an active member of the Abington Knights of Columbus and the Saint Vincent DePaul Society and served for many years as President of the Abington Music Parent Organization.
Rev. Arthur Coyle - Secretary for Pastoral Services, Archdiocese of Boston
If ever there is a Spellman connection it is Father Art! Spellman was fortunate to have Father Art as chaplain of our school from 1985-1992. Father Art, a native of Weymouth was graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1969 and then went on to Saint John’s Seminary College of Liberal Arts where in 1973 he received his Bachelors Degree. In 1977 he received his Masters Degree in Divinity from St. John’s Seminary School of Theology and followed this by earning a Masters Degree in education from Cambridge College in 1990.
Father Art’s ministry has been a gift to all of us from his early days in St. Patrick’s Parish in Brockton to Framingham State College where he served as Director of Campus Ministry, to Spellman in his ministry as Chaplain, and to Norwood where he was administrator of Saint Peter Parish. After he completed his ministry at Spellman, Father Art was named Parochial Vicar of Saint Mary’s in Scituate and then in 1993 he was appointed pastor of Saint Patrick’s in Lowell where he served until 1998. From this assignment, Father Art was appointed as Director of the Pastoral Institute at Saint John’s Seminary and in 2001 was appointed as Archdiocesan Secretary for Pastoral Services a position he now holds in the Archdiocese of Boston
Father Art is presently the moderator of the Presbyteral Council, a member of the Archdiocesan Administrative Cabinet, Secretary to the Archdiocesan Administrative Cabinet, Secretary to the Archdiocesan College of Consulators and a member of the Board of Trustees and the Finance Committee of the Archdiocesan Central High Schools, Inc. as well as numerous other boards.

Francis X. Dillon - Vice President for Advancement, Stonehill College
Fran is a senior fundraising executive with more than twenty years of proven success in planning and implementing comprehensive campaigns, soliciting major gifts, coordinating board development and management, and mentoring and evaluating advancement professionals. Fran has been closely affiliated with Stonehill College since 1974. Currently serving as Stonehill’s Vice President for Advancement, Fran has served that institution in many leadership roles.
In addition to his stellar and long term contributions to Stonehill, Fran has been actively involved in many community endeavors including the Metro South Chamber of Commerce, the United Way of Greater Plymouth County and Caritas Good Samaritan Health Care System. He is currently Vice Chairman of the Board of United Way of Greater Plymouth County and Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Caritas Good Samaritan Health Care System. In addition, Fran has received many honors over the years for his outstanding service to Stonehill College, the Stonehill College Alumni Council, the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center and the Metro South Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Louis DiPietro - Vice President, Panera Bread
Lou is a 1989 Spellman Grad and went on to Boston College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, Summa Cum Laude, in 1993. Lou later obtained his Juris Doctor, 1996, Cum Laude, from the Boston College School of Law.
Today Lou serves as Vice President, Associate General Counsel Panera Bread Company after having been a private business owner and practicing attorney in downtown Boston.
Lou has two children ages 10 and 7 and is a volunteer for the Norfolk Little League.
Sr. Julia Fitzpatrick,CSJ, - Catholic Schools Office
Sister Julia Fitzpatrick is a member in good standing of the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Boston. Sister has an extraordinary background in Catholic Education. She served as Associate Superintendent for Secondary Education, Archdiocese of Boston from 2006-2008 and prior to this she as the Director for Secondary Education at the Department of Education of the Archdiocese of Boston. Prior to the Catholic School Office sister was an active and successful secondary school administrator for a period spanning twenty years.
Sister has an exceptional understanding of the law as it applies to schools and school related issues and has provided workshops in this area of specialization for the staffs of the Catholic Schools Offices of Boston and Fall River, Massachusetts, the Diocese of Manchester, New Hampshire, the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and the Archdiocese of New York.
Kevin Kelley - Chairman & CEO, Lexington Insurance Company
Kevin Kelley has been a loyal alumnus of Cardinal Spellman High School’s Class of 1968. Upon graduation from Spellman, Kevin went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from Boston University.
Kevin has pursued a very successful career in the insurance industry and has served in a number of managerial capacities in the Lexington Insurance Company where he has moved up the career ladder from Senior Underwriter, to Casualty Manager/Vice President to Senior Vice President and President. He currently serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Lexington Insurance Company. In addition, he has served on numerous boards of AIG related groups. Kevin brings to the board both experience and expertise in the realm of insurance including liability, medical and casualty.
Matt Keswick - President, Keswick Consulting
Matt's leadership experience has been polished and sharpened as president of a full service government relations and business development consulting firm serving commercial enterprises throughout the Northeast region of the US and Canada. He has also held the office of Assistant Chief of Staff/Director of Intergovernmental Relations in the Office of the Governor of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from August 1996 - May 2001 .
Matt is a Boston College graduate and a Quincy native. He has spent over a decade in public service as a trustee for Bridgewater State College.
Geradine A. Mahoney - Sr. Associate Director of Athletics, Harvard University (Finance and Administration)
A native of Abington and an outstanding Spellman alum from the Class of 1984, Geradine Mahoney continued her education at Bentley College where she earned a B.S. degree in Accountancy. Geradine began her professional career as a staff accountant for Deloitte & Touche and later became budget manager for Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Geradine brings to Spellman significant Board experience particularly with the Medical Area Federal Credit Union where she has been Board Director since 1999. For that group she has served as Chair of the Supervisory Committee and of the Investment Committee. In addition she enjoys membership on the Budget and Planning Committee and the Board Appoinyed Compliance Review Committee.
A member of the Cardinal Spellman High School Athletic Hall of Fame, Geradine has devoted much time and energy as a Coach and Volunteer Abington Softball League for Girls Association and has served as Vice President of that group.
Claire Sheehan - Reading Resource Specialist, Brockton School Department
Claire Sheehan, a 1978 graduate of Cardinal Spellman High School, is a native of Brockton and one of five siblings who graduated from Spellman. After Spellman, Claire continued her education at Bridgewater State College earning a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education in 1982. From there she went on to Boston College to earn a Masters Degree in Education as a Consulting Teacher of Reading in 1983.
Claire’s professional career has been principally in the public elementary schools of the City of Brockton where she currently serves as the well respected Instructional Resource Specialist at the Huntington Elementary School in Brockton. During her career Claire has been an active member of many committees and professional associations both on the local and the regional levels and has been called on to represent the Brockton Public School System at several conferences. Along with many areas of recognition, Claire was nominated in 1999 for the Massachusetts Teacher of the Year Award.
Claire has maintained her involvement with Cardinal Spellman High School throughout the years since graduation has been an active member of the Alumni Association and is frequently on the scene for various school and alumni events.

John "Jack" T. Yunits, Esq. - Attorney
A resident of Brockton, Jack Yunits will officially be one of our Board members after his daughter graduates in May. Jack brings to our Board a vast amount of experience both as a lawyer, a mediator/arbitrator and as the former mayor of our city of Champions. Jack’s two daughters, Casey ‘00 and Mairi ’07 are Spellman graduates.
Jack’s educational journey began at Boston College High School and continued at the Heights where he earned an A.B. degree in Economics and Philosophy. He went on to New England School of Law where he earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree and was admitted to practice law the same year. Jack enjoyed a very successful career as an Attorney at Law/Trial Attorney.
In 1996, he was elected Mayor of the City of Brockton, a position which he held for ten years. During that decade, under Jack’s capable and energetic leadership, the city began a period of remarkable growth and transformation.
Among the many appointments and honors that Jack has held in recent years are: President, Brockton Boys & Girls Club; Board of Directors, 21st Century Corp.; President, Massachusetts Mayors Association; Chairman , United Way Campaign; Board of Directors, Fuller Museum of Art; Chairman, Clean Water Council; Member, Governor’s Brownfields Committee. In addition, he has received awards from the Brockton Historical Society, the Mainspring Coalition for the Homeless, New England School of Law, Stonehill College, and B.C. High.
