Geradine A. Mahoney - Chair, Board of Trustees and Sr. Associate Director of Athletics for Finance and Administration, Harvard University
A native of Abington and Spellman alumna ’84, Geradine Mahoney was inducted into the Cardinal Spellman High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005.
For nearly two and a half decades, Gerrie has provided financial strategy, analyses and business planning to healthcare and academic organizations. During her professional career she has taken on increasing management and leadership responsibilities. At Harvard, as a member of the senior management team, she overseesthe administration, central operating services, IT, HR and budget for the largest intercollegiate athletic program in the country. Prior to joining Harvard in 2000, she served as the Budget Manager at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and as a senior auditor for Deloitte &Touche. In addition she was a member of the Medical Area Federal Credit Union Board of Directors from 1999-2012, chairing at various times during her tenure, the Investment Committee, Supervisory Committee and the MAFCU Good Works Foundation.
Gerrie earned her BS in Accounting from Bentley College in 1988. She has also devoted time and energy as a coach and volunteer to the Abington Softball League for Girls Association as well as serving as vice president of this group
Louis DiPietro - Vice Chair, Board of Trustees and Vice President, Panera Bread
Lou is a 1989 Spellman Grad. He went on to Boston College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, Summa Cum Laude, in 1993. Lou later obtained his Juris Doctor, 1996, Cum Laude, from the Boston College School of Law.
Today, Lou serves as Vice President, Associate General Counsel Panera Bread Company after having been a private business owner and practicing attorney in downtown Boston. Lou has two children and he is a volunteer for the Norfolk Little League.
Matthew P. Albanese, Esq. '90 - Attorney
Matthew is a 1990 Cardinal Spellman Graduate and enjoyed serving as Senior Class president and co-captain of the Boy’s Varsity Soccer team. Since that time, Matthew has volunteered for the school’s Office of Advancement and has presented before the CSHS Parents Association.
After leaving Spellman, Matthew attended Providence College and then went on to receive his Juris Doctor from Suffolk University School of Law. Following law school, Matthew also earned his M.B.A. from Suffolk University’s Sawyer School of Management with a concentration in international business. He is admitted to practice in the Massachusetts state courts, the United States District Court, District of Massachusetts, and the United State Supreme Court.
Having a strong background in public service, Matthew served as Chief of Staff to former State Representative Thomas O’Brien of Kingston, MA before later working as the legal counsel to the Massachusetts House Committee on Medicaid before entering private practice as an attorney specializing in Estate Planning and Elder Law. He founded his own practice in 2010, specializing in elder and disability law.
Selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2012, Matthew is committed to advocating on behalf of seniors and disabled individuals throughout the Commonwealth. A member of the Board of Directors to the Massachusetts Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Matthew has testified before legislative committees and regulatory agencies in an effort to secure benefits for disadvantaged seniors and their families. He was recently appointed by Governor Devil Patrick to serve as a member of the Massachusetts Elder Economic Security Commission.
Recognizing the importance of continuing education, Matthew is a member of the volunteer faculty of the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education for attorneys. He is also a member of the Plymouth County Bar Association, Norfolk County Bar Association, and the Massachusetts Guardianship Association.
Matthew currently resides in the Town of West Bridgewater with his wife Charleen. An active member of the community, Matthew has served on the Town’s Finance Committee, Board of Selectmen, and committee on economic development. In addition, he has volunteered for the Council on Aging and was a member of the West Bridgewater Lions Club.
Dr. Mary T. Brophy - M.D., M.P.H.
Dr. Mary Brophy was an outstanding member of Spellman’s Class of 1975. After leaving Spellman, Mary attended Stonehill College and then went on to receive an M.D. Degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. She has done a great deal of graduate work and has received a degree from Harvard’s School of Public Health.
Mary has numerous responsibilities including being an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine and work with the Veteran’s Administration Healthcare System. Mary also serves on the Board of trustees for Massasoit Community College and is a Member of the Board of Health for Brockton, MA.
Mary is a very busy practitioner in the medical field and we are very fortunate to have her on our Board. She also is currently the Chairperson of Spellman’s Building Committee. She currently lives in Brockton, MA.
Francis X. Dillon - Vice President for Advancement, Stonehill College
Fran is a senior fundraising executive with more than twenty years of proven success in planning and implementing comprehensive campaigns, soliciting major gifts, coordinating board development and management, and mentoring and evaluating advancement professionals. Fran has been closely affiliated with Stonehill College since 1974. Currently serving as Stonehill’s Vice President for Advancement, Fran has served that institution in many leadership roles.
In addition to his stellar and long term contributions to Stonehill, Fran has been actively involved in many community endeavors including the Metro South Chamber of Commerce, the United Way of Greater Plymouth County and Caritas Good Samaritan Health Care System. He is currently Vice Chairman of the Board of United Way of Greater Plymouth County and Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Caritas Good Samaritan Health Care System. In addition, Fran has received many honors over the years for his outstanding service to Stonehill College, the Stonehill College Alumni Council, the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center and the Metro South Chamber of Commerce.
Kathryn Healy Dunford – Alumna and Parent
A Spellman graduate of the Class of 1981, Kathy earned an A.B. in Communications from Boston College in 1985. A licensed insurance broker, Kathy worked in the commercial insurance industry at International Insurance Group Ltd. in Boston, and was then employed by the Forum Corporation, a leading sales and management training and consulting company, managing its global resource network.
While raising her family, Kathy has been actively involved as a volunteer with several community organizations including Cardinal Spellman High School, the Bridgewater schools, the Bridgewater Senior Center and the Meals-on-Wheels Program.
A native of Whitman, Kathy and her husband Mike reside in Bridgewater with their two daughters, Katie ’11 and Mary ’14.
Mark C. Gildea - Attorney
A graduate of the Class of 1979 from Spellman, Mark earned an A.B. in Government from Georgetown University in 1983 and obtained his JD from the Suffolk University School of Law in 1987. Mark is admitted to practice law in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. He is a partner with law firm of Clark, Balboni and Gildea with offices in Bridgewater, Mashpee, and Providence and is engaged in the general practice of law with a concentration in government and real estate.
Mark serves as Town Counsel for the Town of Bridgewater, Legislative Counsel for the City of Brockton, and County Attorney for the County of Plymouth. Mark resides in Bridgewater with his wife, Charlotte. Three of their five children are graduates of Spellman, one is attending Spellman, and the fifth will follow soon.
Colleen Honan - Senior Vice President, OneSource Information Services
Colleen graduated from Cardinal Spellman in 1984 and presently serves as Senior Vice President, Global Sales & Services, at OneSource Information Services.
In her role at OneSource, Colleen is responsible for the company's worldwide sales initiatives including direct, channel, go-to-market strategies, and alliances. Colleen manages a sales organization across the UK, Europe, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and India. Previously, Colleen held a variety of executive positions for which she consistently exceeded revenue and expense expectations.
A frequent industry speaker addressing sales processes and sales organization structures, Colleen earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Merrimack College, North Andover, MA. Colleen is married to Kevin Honan, a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Colleen and Kevin reside in Brighton with their daughter, Molly, who attends Boston Latin High School.
Michael J. Kearney - Treasurer, Board of Trustees and Senior Vice President/Treasurer of Fidelity Institutional
Mike is Senior Vice President/Treasurer of Fidelity Institutional (“FI”) and has responsibility for managing Fidelity Investments brokerage arm’s banking relationships and reconciliations, cash management services, FundsNetwork AR/Billing and commission/interest schedules for Brokerage's client intermediaries and their customers. Further, FI Treasury is charged with efficiently funding and managing the Broker Dealer legal entity balance sheet through a diversified pool of both internal and external sources of capital while overseeing both Brokerage and Customers' 15c3-3 Investments in conjunction with the Risk, Regulatory and Capital Markets groups.
Before assuming his current role, Mike was Vice President/Treasurer of Devonshire Investors (Devonshire), the private equity arm of Fidelity Investments. Devonshire acts as manager for a series of strategic investments made by Fidelity and its affiliates in a variety of asset classes, i.e. biotechnology, oil & gas exploration, venture capital, LBO, professional building supplies, real estate and telecommunications.
Prior to working at Devonshire, Mike was Vice President/Assistant Treasurer - FMR LLC, the holding company for what is commonly known as Fidelity Investments, where he was responsible for overseeing cash management, bank relations and capital planning functions. Mike joined Fidelity Investments in 1997 as Director, Capital Planning within FMR Treasury responsible for sourcing of debt capital from external institutions and the stakeholder relations and financial management of Fidelity's outstanding debt obligations.
A graduate of the Carroll School of Management at Boston College, the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame and the College of the Holy Cross, Mike is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the Boston Security Analysts Society. In addition, Mike holds the Series 7, 24, 27 and 99 FINRA securities licenses.
Kevin Kelley -
Chairman & CEO, Lexington Insurance Company
Kevin has been a loyal alumnus of Cardinal Spellman High School’s Class of 1968. Upon graduation from Spellman, Kevin went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from Boston University.
Kevin has pursued a very successful career in the insurance industry and has served in a number of managerial capacities in the Lexington Insurance Company where he has moved up the career ladder from Senior Underwriter, to Casualty Manager/Vice President to Senior Vice President and President. He currently serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Lexington Insurance Company. In addition, he has served on numerous boards of AIG related groups. Kevin brings to the board both experience and expertise in the realm of insurance including liability, medical and casualty.
Matt Keswick - President, Keswick Consulting
Matt Keswick is the President of Keswick Consulting, a Boston-based government relations and business development firm dedicated to helping organizations achieve maximum results when pursuing public policy objectives.
Prior to founding Keswick Consulting, Matt worked for three Massachusetts Governors, where he held several high-ranking personnel and policy positions. As Deputy Chief Secretary, he was responsible for overseeing more than 2,500 political appointments to several hundred boards and commissions, including many regulatory authorities. As a result, Matt forged many strong business and political relationships that endure to this day.
In his capacity as Assistant Chief of Staff, Matt was designated as a key administration liaison to the federal government, which included oversight of the Commonwealth's Office of Federal Relations in Washington, DC; he also served as designee to the National Governors Association and the New England Governors Conference / Eastern Canadian Premiers.
In addition to representing clients at all levels of government, Matt is strategically aligned with CanAm Strategies, a Boston and Montreal-based government relations and business development firm. Matt works in partnership with CanAm to further develop business and political relationships between entities in the United States and Canada. Since departing state service, Matt has been active on dozens of political and philanthropic campaigns; his fundraising prowess has translated into millions of dollars raised for the various finance committees on which he has served.
Matt is an appointee to the Board of Trustees of Bridgewater State University, Cardinal Spellman High School, the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority and the Board of Diesel Direct. Matt is a member of the New England Governors’ Conference and the New England Canada Business Council. Matt is an alumnus of Boston College where he is an active member of their alumni association.
He and his wife, Christy, reside in Milton with their son, Anderson.
E. Joseph O'Keefe, S.J.
Fr. E. Joseph O’Keefe, S.J., was born and raised in Boston. His family belonged to St. Theresa of Avila Parish in his home neighborhood of West Roxbury. Fr. O’Keefe attended Saint John’s Seminary College in Brighton, Massachusetts, earning a bachelor’s degree in philosophy in 1990. Even before his time in the seminary, Fr. O’Keefe began working in state and local government where worked in both the legislative and executive branches for over fifteen years.
While serving in government, Fr. O’Keefe earned his Master of Business Administration degree from Suffolk University in Boston while continuing to discern a vocation. In 2006, Fr. O’Keefe entered the Society of Jesus. After his time in the novitiate, Fr. O’Keefe was missioned to Loyola High School of Los Angeles where he taught AP Government and Politics from 2008 to 2010. Missioned next to the Jesuit School of Theology of Santa Clara University in Berkeley, California, Fr. O’Keefe earned a Master of Divinity degree while also studying educational administration at the University of San Francisco. Following his ordination, Fr. O’Keefe served as an Associate Director for Advancement at Loyola High School of Los Angeles. In March of 2014, Fr. O’Keefe returned to Boston and assumed the role of Director of Planned Giving & Special Gifts at Boston College High School. He also serves in a pastoral role at several parishes including Holy Family Parish in Duxbury & St. Mary of the Sacred Heart in Hanover.
John E. Walsh - President, Independence Insurance
John E. Walsh graduated from Cardinal Spellman High School in 1976. After high school, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Politics at Princeton University. John is the President of Independence Insurance Agency Inc., in Abington, a small business focused on meeting the insurance needs of families on the South Shore and he is active in many community organizations.
Since 2007, John is also the Chair of the Massachusetts Democratic Party. He was Deval Patrick’s Campaign Manager in 2005-2006 and Transition Director for the incoming Patrick-Murray administration in 2007. He has actively participated in numerous campaigns, serving in many different capacities, including Campaign Manager for the Mass Democratic Party’s 2002 Coordinated Campaign; which set records for party unity, fundraising and grassroots activities.
John was elected and served ten years as a member of the Abington Board of Selectman and he served, for three years, as a member of the Plymouth County Charter Commission. He lives in Abington with his wife Donna and their son Coleman.
Governor Deval Patrick recently honored John by appointing him to serve on the Board of Trustees of Bridgewater State University.
Barry Cosgrove – Emeritus; President & CEO, Blackmore Partners
Barry C. Cosgrove is a businessman, attorney and charitable director who, for the past twenty years, has successfully founded and led public and private enterprises.
A graduate of the Class of 1975 from Cardinal Spellman High School, Barry earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Marquette University 1979 and a Master’s Degree from MIT in 1981. Barry later obtained his JD from the Suffolk University School of Law (evening division)and became a member of the bar in 1985.
During his professional career Barry took on increasing management and executive responsibilities. He is a founder of DaVita, the world’s largest independent kidney dialysis company and now serves as Chairman and CEO of Blackmore Partners, a private equity firm. Barry also serves on the board of directors of several other businesses, primarily in the health care industry.
In addition to serving as Chairman of Spellman’s Board of Trustees, Barry shares his business and legal expertise with other non-profit and charitable operations. Barry has dedicated a good deal of his professional life to the goal of creating educational opportunities for financially disadvantaged students as well as for raising public awareness of the public health hazards and environmental harm caused by certain agricultural practices (cranberry bog operations, in particular).
