Director of Music and Performing Arts
Cardinal Spellman High School, a co-educational Catholic High School (grades 9-12) in Brockton, MA, is excited to expand its Performing Arts Program. We are seeking a dynamic Director of Performing Arts to help develop and implement a new curriculum and performance-based Fine Arts Program beginning in the 2022-2023 academic year.
Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Develop and direct school Chorus and Band/Instrumental Ensemble
- Design and teach Music Courses offerings including:
- Guitar Classes (group-based)
- Minor Elective Classes: Music Technology; History of Rock & Roll; Music Appreciation
- Direct an existing 75 student Gospel-Style Choir, which provides music ministry for all school liturgies and events
- Direct/Oversee (2) musical productions per year:
- Christmas Musical Revue in December
- Full-Length Broadway-style Musical in the Spring
Ideally, the candidate will have strong keyboard/accompaniment skills and a knowledge of the Catholic Faith and liturgical practices.
Additional Information - The Director of Performing Arts will:
- Inform and advise the building administrators of relevant matters concerning curriculum, instruction and professional development pertaining to the Performing Arts and will supervise the coordination of the Performing Arts Programs of Study.
- Track student enrollment in performing arts courses in order to foresee trends and support opportunities for increased participation at all levels.
- Prepare and monitor the Performing Arts Program yearly budget, including the Music & Theatre Revolving Account
- Coordinate all Music and Theater performances and collaborates with Visual Art Chair on Visual Arts Exhibits, and compiles a yearly Performing Arts rehearsal and performance calendar.
- Serves as primary liaison to community groups to generate community support of the Performing Arts Department.
Job Requirements
- Master's Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Five (5) years of experience as a music, art, and/or theater teacher, preferably at the secondary school levels.
- Strong background in Performing Arts curriculum and instruction
- General knowledge of Catholic liturgical music and practices
Secondary Level English Language Arts
Cardinal Spellman High School, a dynamic, co-educational Catholic High School (grades 9-12) in Brockton, MA., is seeking a full-time English/Language Arts teacher, beginning in the Fall of 2022. The candidate must be qualified to teach a range of English courses, including AP, Honors, and College-Preparatory. Experience teaching at the AP level is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities include:

Teach content and skills in English language, literature, and composition, as well as in reading, to secondary students, utilizing the CSHS Curriculum guidelines for English and other appropriate learning activities as guidelines in teaching individual course content.

Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.

Participate as a contributing member of the English Department.

Keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports as assigned.

Communicate with parents through a variety of means, including conferences, to discuss pupil progress and interpret the school program.

Provide learning experiences designed to meet individual needs through individual and/or group instruction.

Secondary Level Science Teacher
Cardinal Spellman High School, a dynamic, co-educational Catholic High School (grades 9-12) in Brockton, MA., is seeking a full-time Science teacher for immediate and future employment. Ideally, the candidate would be available to assume a long-term substitute position in April 2022, leading to a permanent position in September 2022-2023. The candidate must be qualified to teach a range of Science courses, with experience in teaching laboratory science courses in a secondary school setting. The current position is teaching Biology and STEM courses. Anticipated possibility of future opening in Forensics and Chemistry on all levels including College Preparatory, Honors, and Advanced Placement for 2022-2023.

We are looking for the specific following Strengths of Practice:

Responsibility for the implementation of the instructional program

Management of program and process for special education/student support plan implementation.

Facilitation of the pre-referral, referral, evaluation and support processes for student

Serve as the TEAM Chair for all initial referrals, three-year reevaluation meetings, out-of-district meetings and other TEAM meetings, as assigned by the building administrator

Review, edit and distribute all School Accommodation Plans.

Provide information to faculty and staff regarding changes in processes and procedures to ensure currency with practices and policies.

Consult to faculty, related service providers and parents on issues relating to special education and student support services

Develop programs to meet the needs of students.

Serve as the school’s liaison to other agencies serving students with special needs.

Assist teachers with the modification of instructional programs and assessments.

Support with modifications to, accommodations for, and administration of standardized tests for students

Maintain a current list and description of program options available for students with special needs.

Maintain all school level special education/student support records.

Perform related duties as assigned by the Administrator for Student Services and/or Principals
Qualifications
• Massachusetts certification as a Special Education Teacher
• Master's Degree. Evidence of study beyond Master's Degree preferred
• Demonstrated success in the development, evaluation, and implementation of secondary school curriculum and instruction
• Effective organization and and management skills
• Excellent speaking and writing skills, including the effective utilization of computers, technology, and information management tools.
