High School Placement Test

Cardinal Spellman High School hosts the High School Placement Test twice a year. This is a placement test for Cardinal Spellman and other Catholic secondary schools in the Archdiocese of Boston. (Schools in Fall River, Attleboro, and Taunton are not in the Archdiocese of Boston.)

If you were unable to attend the HSPT on either of the previously hosted dates, please reach out to the Admissions Office as we will be offering a make-up test on campus in January.

Students can also register for make-up session through the Archdiocese of Boston on December 27th from 9am-12 pm at the Pastoral Center.

Big Brother/Big Sister Program

Each incoming freshman will be assigned a Big Brother or Big Sister to personally welcome them to Spellman. Through this program, all incoming students will have at least one upper classmen that they directly know to help them with any questions they should have throughout their freshmen year.

Goal of the Program:

  • to welcome and assist incoming Freshmen as they prepare to enter Spellman and as they actually begin the school year
  • to offer a variety of activities aimed at helping each student to feel welcome
  • to offer support and encouragement
  • to be available to answer students’ questions, offer advice and helpful hints

The Big Brother/Big Sister program begins immediately following the end of your 8th grade year. You will receive a welcoming call from your Big Brother/Sister.

What to Expect:

The Big Brother/Big Sister program begins immediately following the end of your eighth grade year. In June, your BB/BS will call to introduce themselves and exchange contact information in case you have any questions. They will follow up with you and set up a time for further communication.

On the first day of school they will meet you for Freshman Orientation and assist you throughout the morning. Your BB/BS will help you with everything from opening your locker to introducing you to other current Spellman students. Your BB/BS will meet you again that evening when all new students are invited for a cookout. Parents are invited to a parent dinner in the school cafeteria.

Your BB/BS will follow-up with you throughout the first semester, to make sure your transition to Spellman is as seamless as possible.
