2018-2019 Highlights

Football: 5-5

A strong senior presence led the football team to a playoff berth this season, backed by junior Jovan Marrero, who accumulated over 1400 rushing yards.

Boy Soccer: 7-10-3

The boys soccer team came in second place
in the Catholic Central League clinching a spot in the state tournament playoffs. Senior Carlo Alves had 35 goals and 12 assists on the season led team.

Girls Soccer: 12-8

With a young and talented core, the girls soccer team made the state tournament. Leading the way was junior Madison Frye with 17 goals and 5 assists in the season.

Boys Golf: 4-16

The boys golf team was led by strong performances from senior Matt Cahill and junior Anthony Nardelli.

Volleyball: 10-11

The volleyball team was led by senior Captain Carly Fisher who had 174 service points, 55 aces, 410 assists, 25 blocks, 198 digs, and
56 kills.

Boys cross-country: 8-1

The boys cross-country team was led by strong performances from senior Charlie Norton, junior Mike Bowen and freshmen Niko Lutz. Mike Bowen consistently held the best race times and finished as the fourth best runner in the Catholic Central League.

Girls-cross country: 8-1

Young talent led the girls cross country team with sophomores Emma Gryzbinski and
Ava O’Donnell clocking in consistent strong performances. Emma finished with a time of 22.28 in the Eastern Mass Division 5 Meet.

Winter Sports

2018-2019 Highlights

Indoor Track: 7-0-1

The boys and girls indoor track team clinched a Co-Catholic Central League title with Bishop Fenwick this past season. The boys team was led by seniors Issiah Donohue and Charlie Norton, juniors Mike Bowen and CCL MVP Jayden Germana. The boys 4x4 relay team placed 5th in Division 5 State Relays. Sisters Courtney and Emma Gryzbinski led the way for the girls.

Boys Basketball: 10-12

In a competitive Catholic Central League the boys basketball team placed second in the league clinching a state tournament slot. Leading the team was senior Dakari Weston and junior Craig Faria. Craig scored his 1000th career point during a triple overtime win vs. Archbishop Williams in which he had a 56 point performance.

Girls Basketball: 6-14

Led by senior point guard captain Olivia Dandrow and junior Mariah Harris, the girls basketball team fought hard in arguably the most competitive girls basketball league in the state. The team has a good core of young talent returning for the 2019-2020 season.

Hockey: 7-13

Upperclassmen led the way for the boys hockey team this past season. Senior Matt Cahill led the team with 16 goals and 17 assists. Senior captains Christian Goodwin and Thomas McSweeney provided leadership and consistent play throughout the season.

Gymnastics:

Three Spellman student-athletes, Morgan Oliveria, Lily David, and Molly Quinn joined a co-op team hosted by Brockton High School at Spectrum Gymnastics. The team won the Cranberry All-League Meet with Morgan Oliveira winning first place all-around with a score of 35.2

2018-2019 Highlights

Boys Track: 7-0-1

The boys track team finished the season
as Co- Catholic Central League Champions. All-Star performances continued from the winter season with Mike Bowen (distance) and Jayden Germana (sprinter, long jump). Junior Will McAlpine helped lead the team to another league title with outstanding performances
in javelin.

Girls Track: 5-3

Courtney Gryzbinski continued her success
in distance events during the spring season, earning herself 5th place in state competition with an outstanding performance in the mile.

Baseball: 8-12

The baseball team rebounded from a slow start and fought hard to get back into tournament contention. Senior Jack Grafton was dominant on the mound during the season for the Cardinals including two one-hit performances.

Softball: 9-13

Junior Brenna Sullivan pitched every inning for the Lady Cardinals including 12 games in the last 11 days of the season. She also led the team in hitting with a batting average of .419.

Girls Lacrosse: 9-13

Sophomore Marjorie Tobin led the young girls lacrosse team with 67 goals, 62 ground balls, and 22 assists in the season. In just two years of high school varsity play she has scored over 100 goals.

Boys Lacrosse: 7-12

Junior captain Rocky Grillone led the boys lacrosse team with 33 goals, 16 assists and 127 ground balls. The team has three CCL All-Stars returning next season.

Sophomore Tyler Bobbin led the boys tennis team at first singles with a record of 4-9.

In the first singles spot, freshman Suzanne Collins had strong performances throughout the season.

Senior captain Caroline Bavis led a hardworking girls golf team. Her strong performances during the season qualified her to play in the State Tournament.
