Learn More about Planned Giving

The Spellman Heritage Society was established to honor those thoughtful individuals who support Spellman through a planned gift. As a member of The Spellman Heritage Society, you will receive invitations to special events at Spellman and acknowledgement in Spellman’s annual report and other donor listings (unless you choose to remain anonymous).  What’s more, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that your long-term support will allow Spellman to maintain and build an even stronger foundation for our school’s future.

Examples of Planned Giving Options:

Gift by Will or Trust

You may include a provision in your will or living trust that directs a portion of your estate to Spellman following your death. Gifts by will are very flexible and can amended at any time during your life. In addition, bequests of any amount are welcome and qualify the donor for Spellman Heritage Society membership.

Gift from your Retirement Plan

You may name Spellman as a partial or full beneficiary of your 401(k), IRA, pension fund or other retirement plan, which may result in a significant income and estate tax savings.

Charitable Gift Annuity

A charitable gift annuity pays the donor and/or other beneficiaries a fixed income each year for life. The amount of this income depends on the age of the annuitant (at least 50) at the time the annuity is issued. A deferred gift annuity has payments beginning at a time chose by the donor. The minimum gift amount to establish a gift annuity is $10,000 in cash or securities.

Charitable Remainder Trust

You may include a provision in your will or living trust that directs a portion of your estate to Spellman following your death. Gifts by will are very flexible and can amended at any time during your life. In addition, bequests of any amount are welcome and qualify the donor for Spellman Heritage Society membership.

Other Ways to Give

You may also contribute to Spellman in other ways, such as through a charitable lead trust, retained life estate, or by naming Spellman as your life insurance beneficiary.
